Steven Tyler: “Fibre optics, jets, Lady Gaga’s tits... What’s real now was yesterday’s science fiction.”

stephentylerAerosmith’s Steven Tyler has admitted to Q he's a committed "Trekkie" and a bit of a sci-fi geek.

Speaking in our current issue, Q335 out now, ahead of his band's headline performances at Download (15 June) and Calling (28) festivals next month, the singer says he's one with Spock and Kirk.

“I loved the last Star Trek film , I’m a big, big, big freak of sci-fi,” he explains. “When you think about what we have today, if you could give all that knowledge to somebody in the 1800s they’d go, ‘My God, what the fuck is that?’ Fibre optics, jets… Lady Gaga’s tits. What’s real now was yesterday’s science fiction.

‘Beam me up, Scotty,’ that’s going to happen. One day our molecular structure will be broken down and we’ll be teleported from one place to another. That’s a given.”

Get Q335 out now for the full interview in which Tyler discusses kissing Elton John, signing intimate parts of the anatomy and snuggling up with a tiger. Plus head to Downloadfestival.co.uk and Callingfestival.co.uk for more on the band's performances.
