Noel Gallagher has told Q he turned down record deals from all the world's major labels because he to keep things indie.
Introducing the A To Z Of Indie special in our new issue – Q352 out today (29 September) in print and on digital – the High Flying Birds' boss explains why he’s always preferred the independent way of doing things.
“Let’s put it this way, when I left Oasis I was offered big record deals by all the majors but it never crossed my mind once to sign with them,” he declares. “Once you’ve been on a label like Creation you can’t take the A&R telling you to ‘turn the hi-hat up’ seriously – I think independent music is more important now than it’s ever been!”
Get our new issue now for Q’s celebration of the scene that changed British rock music forever, including the Top 20 Indie Singles and Top 30 Indie Albums as voted for by our writers, interviews and much more.
