Mogwai reckon youth is wasted on the new bands of today. Speaking in this month’s Q Maverick interview – available in Q360 on sale now in print and on digital – the Scottish band say they enjoyed their early days but worry the next generation is missing out.
“Well, we were lucky that we were young and daft at a time when you were allowed to be young and daft,” Stuart Braithwaite tells Q’s Simon Goddard. “Like the ‘Blur: are shite’ T-shirt reflected our youthful impudence. That was really funny. Young bands today, I dunno. They seem really into their nutrition, don’t they?”
“Whereas at their age we’d be going onstage hammered,” adds Dominic Aitchison with a grin. “Some nights we’d sound like an absolute rammy.”
