madnessMadness have spoken to Q about Morrissey’s decision to wave the Union Jack onstage during their Madstock homecoming festival.

The former Smiths man was supporting the band in 1992 at their Finsbury Park reunion, and became the subject of much speculation in the music press after he brandished the flag during a set.

Subjects of this month’s Cash For Questions in Q342 out now, the band were asked about incident and subsequent coverage.

“Did it overshadow a triumphant moment for the band? Not as much as he hoped it would!” declares Suggs.

“It was a shame,” adds Chris Foreman. “It was a really big thing for us.”
