Lianne La Havas has spoke to Q about how much she’s learned from Prince after the pair struck up a friendship.
The singer, who released new album Blood on 31 July, features in our new issue, out now in print and on digital, and tells Q’s Laura Barton about how they met, her visit to the Purple One at his Minneapolis home, Paisley Park, (he owns a “guitar that was all completely gold, with gold strings…”) and how much he’s helped her as a musician.
“I learned from watching him,” she says. “I learned about movement onstage, and having a certain level of presentation – I never paid that much attention to detail before. And, obviously, I’m absolutely nowhere near that calibre, but I think it’s absolutely possible to get there.”
Get ourlatest issue – Q349 out now – for the full feature, including La Havas’ musical journey her collaboration, hosting Prince when he decide to play a series of shows in London and much more.
