The Mercury Prize-nominated Everybody Down tells the story of "Becky", her friends and the lengths they go to ensure and enjoy their freedom.
Speaking to Ted Kessler in our new issue, Q341 out now, the poet/rapper explains the record’s protagonists will feature in a novel she is currently working on, along with characters who appear in some of her other poems.
"They all know each other. And I know them," she says of the interlacing narratives and lives she’s created. "I know where they are and what happens."
Confirming she’s on her second draft of the book, Tempest believes its publication will be watermark for her creatively.
“Maybe this will the end of these characters for me,” she suggests. “I feel my writing changing."
