qawardsedsheeranEd Sheeran has spoken to Q about playing Wembley Stadium, as tickets for his third show at the London venue next summer have gone on sale this morning (28 November).

Interviewed in our latest issue, Q342 out, now the busker turned popstar tells Sylvia Patterson he booked the gigs next July (10-12) just to see if it was possible.

“It’s never been done before!” he declares of his plans to perform a one man show in England’s national stadium.

“I thought I was the first to do Madison Square Garden solo. I did a ring round. Did Billy Joel do it? Springsteen? No one. Cool, I’m the first! Then Elton emailed and said in 1991 he did it. Ah fuck it!”

Instead he will be the first person to play solo at the home of football.

“I’m doing Wembley just to see if I can do it, to be honest!" he admits. "There hasn’t been a glass ceiling yet.”
