Speaking to Dorian Lynskey in our new issue, Q340, out today, which features him on one of of our three cover stars, Richard D James also rules out any future big name collaborations.
“I’ve realised that’s never going to happen,” he says of working on a movie. “I’m just terrible at instructions. As soon as I’ve got instructions it’s homework, and boring. If it was my job to make music for films, then most of the time I wouldn’t do anything because I don’t like music in films.”
On record superstar hook-ups are similarly not on his radar.
“A lot of people want to work with me, but they say, Hey, do you want to make a track? I’ll email you this and then you’ll reply,” explains James. “And it’s like, Fuck off, I don’t even know who you are. I’ll make music with anyone who I’m mates with.”
