The team behind Q Magazine have launched a new weekly podcast. Q Presents The Making Of will see Q Magazine Editor Ted Kessler interviewing a superstar songwriter and musician about their life and career in music, about their ups and downs, their hits and misses. The famous “Biscuit Tin” method devised in ancient times by Smash Hits will also be employed to unlock their deepest secrets.
The first episode, available now, welcomes Sleaford Mods’ frontman Jason Williamson as he joins Ted Kessler to describe his journey from furious no-hoper to furious 40-something pop star. Future guests lined up for Q Presents The Making Of include Loyle Carner, Fat White Family, Soak, Andrew Bird, Miki Berenyi, Green Gartside and more.
Commenting on the launch, Kessler said: “The idea of the Q podcast is to be an extension and reflection of the magazine: we want both to be places where influential musicians allow us to tell amazing stories about their lives and work. I’ve recorded a few episodes of Q Presents The Making Of and – through no skill of my own – the podcast has exceeded all our expectations in terms of fascinating drama and hilarious anecdote, from Jah Wobble setting fire to housemate’s furniture to Miki Berenyni being arrested in a Leeds bus station to Loyle Carner’s life-saving cookery school. I’m really excited for everyone to hear it all unfold.”
