[new_royalslider id="33"] The first Q Awards Gig of 2015 took place last night (11 October) at London’s Under The Bridge, with this year's nominees Everything Everything headlining in front of a packed crowd who claimed their free tickets at the start of last week.
The night was kicked off by Vangoffey – Danny Goffey from Supergrass' new band – who performed a zesty set of gravelly indie at what turned out to be their first ever show "not in a shop or a library". Along with recent singles, You, You, You and Race Of Life, the show provided an upbeat preview of the fiery grooves on Goffey's forthcoming debut album.
Following them – and the success of third album Get To Heaven which is nominated for Q Best Album presented by JBL at this year's Q Awards In Association With Absolute Radio – Manchester's Everything Everything headlined the intimate show and with the audience itching for a good dance, their punchy opening of To The Blade had the crowd moving instantly.
With fans hanging on frontman Jonathan Higgs’ every word, material from Get To Heaven was greeted with the same energetic response as older favourites, including the likes of Cough Cough and Kemosabe. Such was the Sunday night crowd's enthusiasm, the band returned to the stage for an unplanned, curfew-testing encore of early single MY KZ, UR BF that brought the night to a rapturous close. Heaven indeed. Octavia Bromell @tavibromell
