Playlist - Parquet Courts "People we want to play gigs with this year"

Buzzing in the fuzzy, punk rock way (though there's a fair bit of interest too) having recently released their album Light Up Gold officially in the UK, New York's Parquet Courts are one of the bands to see at The Great Escape in Brighton (this year's festival takes place later this week, 16-18 May) this year. Set to hit the stage tomorrow (18) at The Haunt, as the festival showcases talent, the quartet have decided to make us a Playlist along similar lines. Here's a host of contemporaries and heroes they'd like you to see so much, they're going share a stage with them all at some point in the next 12 months...

Naomi Punk - The Buzz Smiley creatures of the pacific northwest, they drive a big ass red van.

PC Worship - Toxic Love "NYC freak show will take all your money at poker and get you across the border without getting arrested. Freaks."

Total Control - Love Performance "These Aussies put out one of my favorite new records, Parquet Courts jams it on the road."

Protomartyr - Feral Cats "The best hosts in Detroit featuring a truly engaging live performance from a frontman who could give a fuck."

Milk Music - I've Got A Wild Feeling "Keep at arms length, these guys will rob you blind."

Yuppies - Easy Nights "Guardians of Omaha, the Yuppies petitioned their city council to move the Gateway to the West to Nebraska just so they could bungie jump off it. True story."

Dreebs - Fucking In A Pool "If you listen closely to their music, you'll hear secret messages. They usually just tell you chill out, although sometimes it's something else."

Turn To Crime - Jumbo's 12 26 12 "There's something happening here... a chemist running experiments with no respect for the FDA."

The Bats - Made Up in Blue "New Zealanders that we'll play with Chaos in Tejas in Austin, TX."

Gizmo's - Bible Belt Baby "Parquet Courts opened for the Gizmo's reunion show at the Empty Bottle in Chicago. They hadn't played together for ten years, didn't practice, and sounded awesome."
