gazcombesOxfordOxford is a new festival in – yes correct! The first one takes place next month (26-28 september) and includes a day of film, one of music on the Saturday in South Park and one for local community groups. The event's directors Owen Kent and Anthony Norris have made us a Playlist of some local legends, head to for the full line-up which includes Klaxons, Katy B and at least one name on their hometown heroes list.

The Candyskins – Monday Morning "A great track by a seminal Oxford band. It was good to see them reunite in 2009 – the love for them hasn’t gone away at all."

Ride – OX4 "OxfordOxford is actually taking place in OX4, so this track was very appropriate. Another classic track from a classic Oxford band."

Supergrass – Alright "The soundtrack to summer 95. Gaz Coombes is playing OxfordOxford this year; it’ll be great to see him back on stage in South Park. His solo stuff is brilliant."

Radiohead – Airbag "Any list of great bands, let alone great Oxford bands ought to include Radiohead. Their influence is absolutely audible in city’s emerging talent, and this is surely one of their most underrated tracks."

Tunng – Hustle "Tunng will be taking the stage just before Gaz at OxfordOxford. They always get feet moving and heads nodding – this’ll be a great set."

Stornaway – When You Touch Down From Outer Space "I’ll show you the skyline from the top of South Park... a beautiful song. The band are admirably true to their roots, and have developed into one of Oxford’s top draws."

Foals – Milk & Black Spiders ‘One of the biggest bands currently operating from Oxford, and rightly so. A fantastic track – again, their ongoing influence in the city’s current scene is tangible.’

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs – Household Goods "A somewhat different product of the Oxford scene, but a global phenomenon all the same. TEED will always keep you guessing, he’s quite the enigma."

Glass Animals – Black Mambo "One of the city’s brightest new bands. This is a highlight from their brilliant new record Zaba. Definitely one to watch."

Pixel Fix – Lungs "Appearing at OxfordOxford, another band with a big future. This is the first single from their new EP, Running Thin. You’ll want to catch these guys before they blow up!"
