While The Coral are off the road working on a new record, keyboard player Nick Power has been busy filling indie discos with his DJ sets. He's been entrusted to man the decks for the sixth birthday of Noel Gallagher and Kasabian endorsed club night The Feeling - the celebrations start this weekend in Southampton (12 October) and London (13) before moving around the country, see Thisfeeling.co.uk for details - and has compiled us a Playlist for his surefire floor-fillers. Big Joe Williams - Baby Please Don't Go "Pure teenage excitement and danger into two-and-a-half minutes! The tune I start every set with, without fail."
The Yardbirds - Stroll On originally 'the train kept a rollin' by johnny burnette band, the yardbirds took a rockabilly classic and souped it up into a psych monster. The Smiths - Ask "It's hard to play This Charming Man every week, so when I get bored I lob this on, it's brilliant. Johnny Marr plays some unbelievable Buddy Holly-like guitar."
Supergrass - Richard III "Along with The Stones, Supergrass are a DJ's best friend. They've got loads of tunes you can dance to and everyone seems to know them. This one's my favourite, it's pure evil!"
Gloria Jones - Tainted Love "Everyone knows it, but they don't know why. I always have to turn this down through the PA, it's that powerful!"
The Stone Roses - Mersey Paradise "Roses tunes can be so delicate, they don't always perform through bad soundsystems, except for this one. As always, amazing lyrics and melody."
Beck - The New Pollution "Beck was brilliant around this time, really funny and weird. I hope he gets his sense of humour back."
Super Furry Animals - Northern Lites "Amazing tropical strangeness about the north pole. One of my favourite tunes ever."
Beastie Boys - Intergalactic "Psychedelic hip hop can be a life saver in a bad crowd. If you need people to dance, lob this on."
The Jam - Town Called Malice "Obvious, but this gets everyone going big time. What a tune!"
