International dance festival Groovefest stages its European leg on Malta later this month (29 April-1 May). To guide you through this year's bill Talent Booker Alex Donald has made us a playlist of his personal picks. "These are tracks that have been played over and over again in our office in the last few weeks," he explains. "Some of these talented artists have already experienced the boutique festival at our sister event in the Dominican Republic and we can’t wait to have them back in Malta for the first time, along with some acts who have never been before. I’m really looking forward to kicking of the summer with the Groovefest family."
Hot Since 82 – Veins "One of the biggest Acts of the moment, Hot Since 82 is mad about his Hip Hop and used to have 2-Pac all over his walls as a kid."
Kolsch – Loreley "A man of many guises this track comes from 1977 which is the year he is born and draws inspiration of his upbringing."
Mk – Bring Me to life (MK Dub) "MK is currently working on a side project, named 4th Measure Men. I'm sure we will hear all this new track and the Dub Version of Bring me to Life in Malta."
Apollonia – Mouche TSE TSE "Apollonia were friends for over 10 years all DJing before forming this super group named Apollonia. We don't mind that decision, their music is fantastic!"
Citizenn - Lady (Kerri Chandler Remix) "Kerri Chandler used to be a studio engineer for Kool & The Gang and plays for us on Saturday 30 April!"
Jamie Jones – New School Acid (Matthias Tanzmann Remix) "A Matthias Tanzmann remix of Jamie Jones on Kerri Chandler's label… You can't get a much better combination of that and the track doesn't disappoint."
Faithless – God is a DJ (Route 94 remix) Route 94 used to be a Dubstep DJ named Dream before turning his attention to the 4x4 side of things.
Nachtbreaker – You're Out Of Your Slement (Detroit Swindle remix) "Lars used to programme a club in Amsterdam where Marteen played often. Lars was asked by the owners to sack Marteen as he was playing too underground. They got talking and started going to the studio together resulting in Detroit Swindle.
Art Department – Crazy (Jamie Jones remix) "Jamie Jones used to sit in the back of his Mum's car singing along to Whitney Houston. Art Department and Jamie Jones will perform at Groovefest Showcase this year."
