One of Europe's most acclaimed and influential music festivals – it even has a spin off in Portugal – Primavera Sound returns this summer (1-5 June) with the notable distinction of bringing Radiohead to Barcelona. Leaving them aside, and to guide us through the rest if the bill, booker Abel Suárez presents some personal picks in Q playlist form.
Selda – Ince Ince Bir Kar Yagar "An honour to have at the festival Selda, an artist that's been representing for some decades the most rebellious, vibrant and fearful side of Turkish Music."
Joana Serrat – So Clear "She's releasing her new album this year. It's Americana made in Barcelona with the help of some of the best Canadian musicians!"
Suede – Like Kids "They are back with their best album of recent times, we are sure their live show will be as good as always, guaranteed to deliver the greatest live performances they’re known for."
Titus Andronicus – Fatal Flaw "Love this band! Their mix of American punk rock, The Pogues, Bruce Springsteen and The Clash always makes the crowds explode."
John Carpenter – Vortex "My own personal headliner for this year’s festival, I am proud to have John Carpenter perform one of his first live shows ever, here at Primavera. He is an influence to so many people, as a film director as well as a musician."
Pusha T – Untouchable "This year’s line up boasts some of the great hip hop artists of the year, with Pusha T among the biggest names on the bill. His new album is granted to crown him as one of the most talented artists out there."
LCD Soundsystem – Losing My Edge (pictured) "I think James Murphy's band sums everything we like at Primavera Sound: electronic music, punk, pop, roots… and of course, we love all the bands listed in this song too!"
Downtown Boys – Dancing In The Dark "One of the most exciting punk rock bands of the year covering one of my favuorite songs ever - perfection!"
