Primavera Sound gets under way in Barcelona this week (27-30 May), bringing a host of local and international artists together in Spain. To guide us through this year's line-up head of the booking Fra Soler has made Q this Playlist.
The Replacements – I Will Dare "Legendary! It will be the first time The Replacements play in Spain. We are truly proud of having them at our festival."
Tobias Jesso Jr – How Could You Babe "One of the names of the year, echoing the best Harry Nilsson and Randy Newman tunes."
Einsturzende Neubauten – Seele Brennt "An avalanche of goosebumps every time I listen to this!"
John Talabot - Machine "One of our favourite local artists. Open-minded and talented, he embodies the spirit of our festival."
Spiritualized – Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space "God and opiate drugs set a unique place for a gospel-rock psychedelia op-art spiral that probably had one of its peaks in this marvelous tune."
Movement – Us "Definitely a highlight of our last Primavera Club edition. Glad to have them at Primavera Sound."
Patti Smith – Redondo Beach "An innocent predecessor of the punk-reggae association that became so common some years later, Redondo beach is not the best nor the most popular song in the enormous Horses totemic album, but it’s a surprisingly pioneer one."
Giant Sand – Shiver "After many years of essay/error practicing with country-folk rootsy postmodern desert old rock'n'roll Howe Gelb should be as iconic as a cactus."
Ride – Dreams Burn Down "One of the most influential bands of the 90s. We’ve been praying for a reunion and we are ecstatic to finally have them at Primavera."
Death From Above 1979 – Trainwreck One of the rare instances of a reunion act sounding more raw and urgent than before the break-up.
