Artist Playlist - Lola Colt's "Music for a shoot out"

LolaColtHaving just released single Vacant Hearts, London six-piece Lola Colt have that hip young gun-slinger swagger about them right now, which goes someway to explaining their choice of Playlist theme. "Lola Colt originally began as a song writing partnership between (lead singer) Gun & I," explains guitarist Matt Loft. "We came together over a long standing love of vintage films and cinematic sounds, especially spaghetti Westerns, from which we took our name. The greatest western shootouts pull you into the psychological reality of living in such an environment. You have to identify with the characters, love or hate, admire or fear them. It takes time and patience to orchestrate such a scene. The viewer has to feel a genuine emotion stake in the situation. We've chosen ten songs that use tension, builds, releases, repetition, narrative and instrumentation to evoke feelings in a similar way".

Brian Jonestown Massacre - You Look Great When I'm Fucked Up "A twisted, Morricone-esque masterpiece."

Federale - The Blood Flowed Like Wine "The modern ambassadors of the spaghetti western score are joined by Alex Maas of The Black Angels for a cutting murder ballad vocal."

The Raveonettes - Bowels Of The Beast "Psychopathic guitar slingers".

Crime And The City Solution - Six Bells Chime "The undertaker never loses."

The Jesus & Mary Chain - Sugar Ray "Hear that ricochet!"

Rowland S. Howard - Undone "The panicked snare, the incessant guitar. The brief moment of weakness/reflection in the middle. Perfection."

Suicide - Ghost Rider "That heartbeat. A panic attack of pure euphoria."

Link Wray - Rumble "Back-water showdown or back-alley brawl this riff is pure attitude. Even the drum beat is limping."

Cult Of Dom Keller - Ghost Bones "Funeral keys bring me to my knees."

Dizzy Stilettos - She Might Be The One "You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig."
