We've not been Rickrolled, he's here on purpose. With a new album called 50 out today (10 June) Mr Rick Astley answers five questions.
WHO would play you in the film of your life? I’m going to say Cate Blanchett or Mike Meyers, or possibly both that would be fantastic actually if its different parts of my life: Cate Blanchett because she’s got wonderful skin and could play me when I’m young and then Mike Meyers could step into the role a bit later, there you go.
WHAT are you currently working on? I’m working on a very good cappuccino, and a nice couple of biscuits in a very lovely hotel in the centre of London. Other than that I’m also working on promoting my new album which is called 50, because I am 50 now and also going to be doing gigs later on in the year in and around Europe and everywhere else with a bit of luck.
WHY do you do that thing you do? I still do music because I’m still in love with it. It still moves me, whether it’s my music or someone else’s, it still moves me on a daily basis and occasionally even brings me to tears. Which is an amazing thing especially at my time of life, it still gives me that feeling so that why I do it.
WHERE do you see yourself in 10 years? I see myself on a Mediterranean beach, owning a beach club, restaurant bar sort of venue and I’m going to wear sequinned jackets, a different colour for every night of the week, and I’m going to perform classic standards whilst being slightly tipsy coz I’ll be drinking cocktails the whole time. It will be my venue and my wife will be the maître d’ and it’ll be the place to go. Oh won’t it just!
WHEN will there be a harvest for the world? Unfortunately there probably won’t ever be a harvest for the world because lizard people rule the world and run it and we’re all at their beck and call but you never know I live in hope and one day, one day there might be a better world, so there you go.
