Today we reveal that Anna Calvi is this year’s recipient of the Fender Play Award at the Q Awards 2019. The Fender Play award is a special accolade that celebrates an artist at the forefront of modern guitar music. The prize is named after Fender Play, Fender’s complete learning subscription app for guitar, bass and ukulele which makes it more fun and easier than ever to learn and hone new musical skills.
Calvi receives the award after releasing three critically-acclaimed albums, with the singer-songwriter also recently scoring the soundtrack to the recent series of Peaky Blinders. She is the second-ever artist to receive the Fender Play award with Biffy Clyro’s Simon Neil receiving the inaugural award at last year’s event.
Calvi will receive her award at the Q Awards 2019 ceremony at London’s Roundhouse on Wednesday 16 October. The awards will be hosted by Nadine Shah and some of the biggest stars in music are attending. You could be there to witness it all. Tickets are on sale now and available from here.
