Jamie T: “Playing live is a life-or-death experience to me” (Q342 Preview)

Jamie T has spoken to Q about his stage fright and how he still finds playing live a difficult experience.

Speaking to Andrew Perry in our new issue, Q342 out now, the Wimbledon singer-songwriter admits gigs can be an ordeal for him.

“I find it incredibly nerve-wracking,” he explains. “It’s a life-or-death experience to me. Maybe that makes the show more exciting, because it’s on a knife edge, between whether I pass out or not.”

However conversely his bigger shows, including London’s Alexandra Palace earlier this month, actually cause him less problems.

“I actually find smaller gigs worse now that the big ones,” he declares. “You can see the whites of their eyes.”
