Thank you for your interest in the 2010 Emerging Talent Competition organised by Glastonbury Festivals Ltd (the ‘Festival’) and Q
Please note the following important information:
1) The competition is open only to musicians based in the UK and Ireland who: have not signed a contract with a major record label, or a contract with any label for more than one album.
”Major record labels” means Sony BMG, Universal, EMI, Warner and their subsidiaries
2) Entries will be accepted online only at QTheMusic.com. At the first stage of the competition we guarantee to listen to one whole track.
3) The entry fee per band or artist is £11.95 including VAT. This fee is non-refundable and will be used to cover the costs of running the competition, including the production costs of the finals. Any remaining funds will go to Glastonbury's chosen charities
4) Regrettably we will not be able to enter into any correspondence with competition entrants. However QTheMusic.com may contact each competition entrant to give them updates about the various stages of the competition including the people's vote, and information around radio coverage of the competition.
5) By entering the competition you agree to:
- Any material submitted and any consequent live performance at Glastonbury Festival 2010 being broadcast on the radio/television without further consultation.
- Be available to perform at the competition finals as detailed in part 9
6) A team of judges will listen to all the entries, aiming for a shortlist of 150 entrants.
7) From these the Final Judging Panel will select 11 entrants to invite to the competition finals. Successful entrants will be notified by Monday 22nd February 2010. The final 12th place will be put to the public vote.
8) The Public Vote: The judges will shortlist 10 runners up for the 12th final place. Details and tracks from these acts will then go live on QTheMusic.com for a public vote. Users must register to cast their vote and we will allow only one vote per registered user. Voting will commence from Monday 22nd February and close on Monday 8th March at 9am. The act with the most votes will join the other 11 winners to make up the final 12 who will perform at The Finals.
9) The Finalists:
- Will be told the day they will play by March 15th 2010.
- Will be paid a set fee of £150 for performing. The fee is fixed per act irrespective of whether a solo artist or a band with several members are involved.
- Must work closely with the Stage Manager, meeting all Health and Safety requirements, and must provide safe working equipment.
- Must not exceed the given time slot of 20 minutes.
- All finalists need to be aware that the finals may be recorded in both audio and audio visual formats and finalists must agree that the Festival can use the recordings in all media including but not limited to television, radio and the internet without further reference to or payment to them (subject to payment of any appropriate performance royalties paid by the PRS to its member songwriters).
10) The winner:
- Will be offered the opportunity to perform on a main stage at the Glastonbury Festival 2010 at a time, date and for a fee to be determined by the Festival organisers. If joint winners are chosen then the Festival organisers will use its reasonable endeavours to ensure the joint winners will each have a performance slot. Any fee will be shared between joint winners.
