Disco-rockers We Have Band were crowned winners of the 2009 Emerging Talent Competition. The judges, who included Michael and Emily Eavis, Paul Rees, Editor-in-Chief of Q Magazine and Huw Stevens from Radio One commented: "The decision was unanimous. We Have Band are strikingly original, energetic and deserving of a main stage slot.
The competition aims to find and promote as much new music as possible. Since it started in 2004 over 200 entrants have played around the site during the Festival weekend, both on the main stages and smaller venues including Q's very own Queen's Head Stage.
Winners and finalists from previous years include The Subways, Scouting for Girls, Golden Silvers, The Travelling Band, Ralfe Band, Liz Green, Dr Meaker, Charlene Soraia, Dogtanian, Gideon Conn, Ten Bears, Hazah, Rod Thomas, Prison Love, The Priscillas, smallwhitelight, Whalebone Polly, The Epstein, The Mirettes, 28 Costumes, Moya and The Bellagios.
