AMERICAN MUSIC CLUB

Biography

Over the course of seven albums released between 1985 and 1994, San Francisco-based American Music Club attempted to splice together the various threads of US music – folk, country, rock, punk - into a seamless and unique whole. It is to their credit that they largely succeeded. Led by Mark Eitzel, their songs were frequently stark and harrowing, not least on those about the Aids epidemic cutting a swathe through their hometown. After the band split in 1995 Eitzel went solo before reconvening AMC in 2003.
