BOARDS OF CANADA

Biography

Scottish brothers Marcus Eoin and Michael Sandison admired the documentary work of the National Film Board Of Canada so much, they adapted its name for their band. Their recorded output broke new ground by taking electronica out of the studio and into the countryside, creating warm, organic- sounding soundscapes with the aid of field recordings and sampled TV speech and children’s laughter. Far from prolific, they have only released two albums since their 1998 debut.
