MOTHER LOVE BONE

Biography

At the start of 1990, of all the bands jockeying for position in Seattle’s vibrant grunge scene, Mother Love Bone seemed the ones set to crack the mainstream. Led by larger-than-life frontman Andrew Wood and with a sound owing much to the classic hard rock of Led Zeppelin, expectations were high. But Wood ODed on heroin and died just days before their debut album had been due to hit the shops and the band split. After Wood's death, guitarist Stone Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament formed Pearl Jam.
