THE BLUE NILE

Biography

he Blue Nile, formed by three graduates from Glasgow University in the late '70s, have been critical darlings ever since the 1984 release of their debut album A Walk Across The Rooftops (released on a bespoke label, having impressed local hi-fi company Linn with their innovative use of dynamics). Yet the band's sweeping and lush electronic-based albums never translated the plaudits into sales, although a far-from-prolific output has hardly helped with career momentum. Indeed, their near-30-year career has been punctuated by a mere four albums, most recently 2004's High.
