Having fronted Colchester’s organ driven rock ‘n’ roll band FuzzFace for some years, Ady Johnson now embarks on a solo acoustic project. An act which sounds like Graham Coxon’s Spinning Top colliding with Tom Waits’ Bone Machine; delivered with deft guitar work and passionate, soulful vocals. In the latter half of 2008 Ady began writing and performing material at open mics in and around his home town of Colchester (Also hometown of blur, as documented in the forthcoming film ‘No Distance Left to Run’). 2009 saw Ady working with various musicians to back the project, playing numerous pubs and clubs in the South East. He also appeared at festivals including the Cambridge Strawberry Fair and Fordham Festival, and supported Cornershop at the Colchester Arts Centre. One local newspaper review of an Ady Johnson gig stated, “If music is this good, why didn't this gig take place at the Hammersmith Apollo?” Recording for a self-funded album began in September and an album launch is planned for early in the New Year at the Colchester Arts Centre. This will be followed by an ambitious 2010 with more gigs further afield, radio play etc etc…
