The Good, The Bad & The Queen THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE QUEEN

Damon Albarn’s “supergroup” might have looked contrived on paper, uniting as it did two of his musical idols – Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen and Clash bassist Paul Simonon. But the album itself proved a revelation, as tracks such as Herculean and Green Fields took listeners on a haunting, dub-tinged journey through West London, while acting as a dystopian sequel to Blur’s Parklife. Amazing to think that some considered him lightweight during the Britpop years; he’s now one of our most consistently fascinating musical talents.
I don't know, Q. I'm a big Albarn fan, but the UK seems to be the only one raving about this album. It's gone nowhere overseas. Maybe it'll grow on me when I'm 30...

Best album of 2007. I never liked Blur, gorillaz - good for kids... but this is fascinating. 10/10.
