On their first two albums, Kings Of Leon were merely a Southern Strokes, offering little musical substance to detract from their overshadowing backstory of errant preacher’s kids from Hicksville, USA. Because Of The Times was, therefore, a revelation, the work of a band who’d clearly taken notes on interim tour supports with Pearl Jam, Bob Dylan and most audibly U2. Their first UK Number 1 album, its haunting True Love Way and spiritual lead single On Call sparkled with a stadium-sized epic rock sheen. Sure enough, they closed 2007 with their first British arena tour.
